I asked on my Facebook Fan Page a while back, “If your wedding pictures didn’t live up to your expectations and you had a chance to retake some of the formal portraits of you and your spouse would you? Why or why not? What would you do different the second time around?”.

I got quite a few responses, both on the wall of the page and to my inbox, and because of the positive feedback I received I’d like to offer a chance for you to retake some of your wedding pictures. So, whether you;

a) hired the wrong photographer and the pictures didn’t turn out to be what you expected

b) had the worst storm you can remember and couldn’t go outside for pictures

c) finally lost that last 15lbs that you wanted to lose BEFORE the wedding

d) ran out of time during the formals because you had to get to the reception

e) were pregnant when you walked down the aisle

OR

f) just want an excuse to put the dress back on and add some more variety to your wedding album

I’ve got a solution for you. Feel like a princess one more time and put that dress back on, get your hair and makeup done and meet me for a portrait session. The best part is that since it’s not actually your wedding day, you don’t have to worry about getting the dress a little dirty (or wet!) or messing your hair up a little. You can be a little more daring and try things that you wouldn’t have been able to do at your wedding. Like those amazing shots of the bride and groom lying in the surf on the beach!

Mother’s Day is coming up soon and to honor all of the wonderful Mom’s here in the Valley, I am offering “Mommy and Me” Mini Sessions on Sunday, April 25th in Berwick.

Mini sessions will be photographed in black and white with a simple backdrop. They will be 20 minutes long and done indoors so that we don’t have to worry about bad weather. There will be room for 10-12 Moms with bookings every half hour starting at 10am and the last appointment at 3:30pm. Obviously, these sessions are just for Mom and her kiddos but Daddy’s are welcome to tag along to watch/help. Mommy’s-to-be and Gramma’s are also welcome!

About a week after your session, you will be provided with a password to your own private proofing gallery where you can view between five and ten proofs from your session and order prints if you wish. Your choice of five web sized images is included in the cost of your session. The cost for your session will be $50. Session fees are due at the time of booking and payable by paypal or email money transfer. Although they are non-refundable, session fees can be applied to another session within a month of the session date if you cancel with 48 hours notice**.

Yesterday I did my first commercial shoot ever for Cynthia at Stork’s Landing in Kingston. Cynthia rounded up four adorable little girls, chose some adorable Gymboree outfits, matched them with props and was an awesome hostess! All the little girls had so much fun, the Mom’s seemed to enjoy themselves and I had a blast – it was great!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Stork’s Landing, it is located at 800 Main Street in Kingston. You can find them on Facebook here. Cynthia has even set up an “In Stock Now” event so that you can see some of what is on the floor before you drop in. They do sell consignment, but have lots of retail (brand new) stuff too – my favourite being Gymboree clothing! If you haven’t seen Gymboree clothes before, you’ve been missing out. This stuff is super cute! Have a look for yourself and tell me that you don’t agree.

You might remember Morgan from the “Baby, You Oughta Be In Pictures” contest from January. She came in second with 516 votes! Well, today I got to meet her and her family and the girls were so well behaved that we spent two solid hours snapping pictures.

First of all, I have to share my absolute FAVORITE image from today – one of my favorites ever actually. This is Morgan. If you can believe it, the only thing I did to this picture is convert it to black and white. I didn’t retouch her eyes at all, they actually are that spectacular. Have a look for yourself….

Morgan turned five months old today (Happy 5 Months btw!) and she was so so good. I could have just taken her home with me! Here are a few more of her in color so you can see those baby blues in all their glory.

Morgan’s older sister Makayla was so much fun! She loved getting dressed up in the tutus that I brought and was a very good little model. Here she is doing her thing for the camera.

Seriously, how cute is she?

Makayla was a big help making her sister giggle and getting her attention – she was even nice enough to take a picture of Morgan and Mommy for me. Here’s Makayla’s shot…

Not too bad eh? It lacks a little bit of focus, but I think you can tell what she was going for.

Not long after Makayla showed off her camera skills, poor little Morgan was getting pretty sleepy. This is the last picture I took today, all three – Mommy, Makayla and Morgan – snuggled in with Morgan sound asleep!

Today I got to meet three beautiful little boys and their Mom (their Mom owns Wee Piggies and Paws btw)

We started off inside with the studio, but the weather today was so so so nice that we ended up outdoors. I shot outside for 45 minutes or so in a t-shirt, I couldn’t believe it! We must be in for one heck of a storm sometime soon because Mother Nature has been far too nice to us the past little bit. Anyway, on to the pictures! This is Silas

Studio first…..

He sure loved that blankie! Mommy and the boys had a special name for it but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. I’m sure it’ll come to me as soon as I finish posting.

Then we headed outdoors….

…. where Silas discovered DIRT! Since he was too small before winter, this was his first experience with grass and dirt.

He made sure he got a good taste of it too! lol

Doesn’t he have the most gorgeous eyes?!

And beautiful LONG eyelashes too!

Last of all is a picture for Daddy. Daddy has a big Kubota tractor (I have to admit I had tractor envy for a minute, I sure love our little Kubota but his was REALLY nice!) and Silas is going right along on what looks to be a John Deere. I’m sure it won’t be much longer and he’ll be wanting to drive Dad’s.

That’s right, I am looking for outgoing and unique dogs to model for some advertisements.

Dog parents must be willing to sign a simple model release allowing the images to be used for advertising and be available to travel to the Coldbrook/Kentville/New Minas area for an outdoor portrait session with their dog the weekend of April 10th and 11th.

Applying dogs don’t need to be purebred; dogs of all sizes, shapes, colors, and ages will be considered as long as they meet the requirements. Dogs should be good with other dogs and strangers, outgoing, well behaved, have lots of personality, and be trusted off-leash for short periods.

Litters of Puppies Can Apply Too!
If you live between Greenwood and New Minas and have a litter of puppies who will have their eyes open between April 12 and 16 you can submit them together (along with the information above) to be considered for an indoor studio session at your home. If you are submitting an application for your puppies, you should be available evenings during the week of April 12 to 16 for your session.

Applications will be accepted until April 1st and accepted doggies will be contacted by April 4th. Dog parents will receive a free outdoor mini-session (30 minutes long) for their pup and five web-sized (400px by 600px) digital images. You will be able to purchase additional images or prints if you want, but it is not required.

March’s newsletter is short and sweet but it has an awesome deal on family and/or children’s sessions in honor of March Break.

Family or Children’s sessions booked Monday to Friday between March 8th to 26th will be discounted and will include a print credit to spend however you’d like – even on digital files. Remember Whitten? He won a free portrait session/print package in the Baby, You Oughta Be In Pictures contest last month and today I got to go meet him. Apparently Whitten is normally a very smiley little man, but today all he seemed to want to show me was his serious side. We tried everything to get him to smile from toys to wet facecloths – at one point I had four people standing behind me trying to coax a smile out of him! Despite the fact that he was quite stingy with the giggles we still managed to get some great pictures. Mom, here are two of the ones that I didn’t show you on the camera today. I hope you like them, the rest will be ready soon!

This first one totally cracks me up! I dare you to look and not smile – I don’t think it’s possible.
